Owner and Head Coach Chris, has been involved in sport, recreation, martial arts and fitness since an early age. You name it, he's probably given it a crack. From sky-diving to SCUBA diving, athletics to abseiling, meditation to Muay Thai...and everything in between. After leaving school, Chris joined the NZ Army and was based at Linton as a member of 1RNZIR for several years. Since 2012 he has trained numerous athletes across several codes and of course CrossFit! Chris is passionate about CrossFit, Strength and Conditioning, Injury Prevention, movement, pre-habilitation and rehabilitation. He has attained a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (BSpExSc), Certificates in both Fitness Industry Training and Massage and has completed multiple CrossFit specific courses including CrossFit Level I + II, CrossFit Weightlifter, CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Mobility Trainer courses and regularly upskills and loves learning new things!

Chris believes that CrossFit and exercise in general has so much to offer the community. He loves seeing the progress, improvement and development that CrossFit can have on so many different aspects of daily life. "Resilience in the face of adversity, self-belief and confidence are just some of the traits that can be developed which then have a positive impact on school, work, home, daily life and the community at large". Most recently he's been able to put all that belief in exercise to the test battling aggressive prostate cancer, radical prostatectomy surgery and undertaking his own journey back to health exceeding all specialist expectations for recovery and restored function.





Hi I’m Cindy! Coach and Nutritionist here at Metal Zone CrossFit.

I have been actively doing CrossFit since 2012. I found it at the perfect time. I was a girl who lived on the edge with motorbikes, barefoot water skiing, jumping off bridges and out of planes. The more extreme the better. We lost our 18 year old son in a car accident and grief weight just piled on and in 2012 I found myself at the largest weight I had ever been. This is when I walked into my first CrossFit class. Wow what a workout, pushing my body to its limits throwing some heavy tin around and feeling so empowered by it all, as a woman in her 40s. In a very short time frame, I had lost over 20kg and was stronger and fitter than I had ever been. Not only had I lost weight, but I had gained confidence, self love and built a strong community around me. I felt so strong mentally and physically! I was hooked and this is where my love for CrossFit began.

I love coaching our upbeat Fitfam but my #1 love is being Metal Zone CrossFit’s Nutritionist. I run the 12 week Nutrition Challenges within Metal Zone as well as more personalized nutrition coaching inside and outside our gym. I work alongside your sports specific and CrossFit training to make sure you are getting the best you can from your body.

My goal for Metal Zone CrossFit is to be the most upbeat, professional, knowledgeable Coach and Nutritionist I can be. I want to help as many people as I can become fit, Healthy and realize their true potential 😊
